DESCRIPTION:

Traditional Market Festival or Grebeg Pasar as known by local people is an art and culture parade that performed to celebrate Yogyakarta city anniversary. The carnival held on October in every year and attended by 30’s local art enthusiasts and culture communities from all over Yogyakarta and supported by Yogyakarta city Industry & Commerce Board. This parade will start from Beringharjo market then go to Ngasem market. The carnival show the aesthetic of the unique dress and the market goods arranged to be like mountain form/cone (gunungan). In the end of the carnival, the market goods will be struggled by visitor. Traditional Market Festival or Grebeg Pasar is annual event has goal to increase the traffic or to attract people to visit traditional market.

HOW TO GET TO THE LOCATION?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

There is a cheap public transport to get there. Trans Jogja Bus. Ticket only IDR 3,500. First, you must go to halte bus/bus stop of Trans Jogja. Then, you must reach to Malioboro 3 halte (halte Malioboro 3) or Beteng Vredeburg Shelter/Halte (SO 1 Maret halte) or Ahmad Yani halte, and then take a walk to the market. Ask to the operator if you still confused.
Operator will glad to give information. 🙂

From Adi Sutjipto Airport :
please take Route 1A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg/Ahmad Yani Shelter/Halte (SO 1 Maret halte)
then please take a walk to the market
From Tugu Railway Station :
please take Route 1A or 2A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg/Ahmad Yani Shelter/Halte
then please take a walk to the market
From Giwangan Bus Station :
please take Route 10 – Stop in Senopati 1 Shelter/Halte,
then please take a walk to the market
From Jombor Bus Station :
please take Route 2A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg/Ahmad Yani Shelter/Halte
then please take a walk to the market

From Prawirotaman Backpacker street:
please take a walk to the Beringharjo market
From Sosrowijayan Backpacker street:
please take a walk to the Beringharjo market

*) Trans Jogja operates from 5:30 am until 9:30 pm.

**) You can take a motorcycle taxi such as Grab-bike or Go-jek for easy and reasonable price.
