This event was attended by thousands of visitors, fado enthusiasts and fado communities from all over Indonesia.
You gonna see awesome ancient city of Kotagede, yes Kotagede = big city, it’s the heritage capital of Mataram sultanate with awesome atmosphere, you can see also the old architecture of houses, narrow street, etc.

You gonna see beautiful night sky on the concert because it open space. It become exotic atmosphere with traditional chairs or sitting on the ground with the strong lights.
WHAT IS KERONCONG?
Keroncong music in Indonesia comes from Portuguese music called “fado” introduced by the sailors and the slave merchant ships in the 16th century. In the development of traditional Indonesia entered a number of elements that participate to form keroncong music, in short keroncong has evolved a long and admirable.
Keroncong unique with a blend of western and eastern culture, flexibility and openness will be other music, so many types of songs will still be dynamically performed with rhythmic keroncong. This is what makes many people believe keroncong will be lasting throughout the ages.
HOW IS KERONCONG KOTAGEDE HISTORY?
Keroncong music has been played in Kotagede since 1930 with the existence of OK Moonlight. In the period that followed there was the OK Family group
whose entire personnel are from the family of Subarjo and OK Cahaya
In 1960 the keroncong players wore suits appear. Unlike now more diverse display when on the stage. Subarjo also admitted in the 60s the perpetrators keroncong wearing a suit when performing.
Keroncong music in Kotagede continues to grow from the number of players, performances and musicals keroncong which used to play an old classic shape. Then in the year 2000 there are already around 17 Keroncong groups in Kotagede. “In Kotagede and in 2000, there were approximately 17 active keroncong groups. Since a long time ago although there are already many keroncong groups, keroncong orchestras in Kotagede always lacking forwards or what is meant here are players of violin, flute and vocal, “explained Subarjo as one of the legendary in keroncong world.
The age of keroncong in Kotagede goes hand in hand with the age of Independence Indonesia is aging but always has a deep young spirit

WHAT IS PASAR KERONCONG KOTAGEDE?
In 2015 with colleagues, M Natsir as the initiator of keroncong music in Kotagede initiated the Keroncong Market (Pasar Keroncong) as real documentation of the development of Indonesian keroncong music. From the results of the discussions with the community of Kotagede finally sparked the idea of holding “Pasar Keroncong Kotagede 2015”.
Pasar Keroncong Kotagede is a performance art that is packaged in such a way that it can be enjoyed while inspiring a wide audience. The name implies this performance will be like a market where many kinds of styles keroncong be displayed so that the audience can freely choose the preferred, even the audience will be given the freedom to interact.
In this event, there are three stages named Sopingen stage, Kajengan Stage, and Loring pasar Stage.

About 6.4 km southeast of Yogyakarta zero km point or 18 minutes.
About 8.4 km southeast of Tugu train station or 26 minutes.
About 6.1 km southeast of Lempuyangan train station or 18 minutes.
About 1.6 km northeast of Giwangan bus station or 7 minutes.
About 13 km southeast of Jombor bus station beach or 34 minutes.
About 9.2 km southwest of Adi Sucipto airport or 19 minutes.

*) There will be three separated stages in this event. It named Sopingen stage, Kajengan Stage, and Loring pasar Stage.
**) The biggest stage located in front of Kotagede market called Loring Pasar stage.
***) Update info: this year (2019) the road in front of Kotagede market is under renovation, the stage move to the west of Kotagede market and called as Kudusan stage.

HOW TO GET TO THE LOCATION?
There is a cheap public transport to get there. Trans Jogja Bus. Ticket only IDR 4,000. You must go to halte bus/bus stop of Trans Jogja. Then, you must reach to Tegalgendu/Pegadaian Kotagede halte (halte Kotagede), usually 3A or 3B bus route and then take a walk to the market. Ask to the operator if you still confused.

***) After the music festival end, you can order Go-jek or Grab bike to your hotel. But, mostly the driver can’t speak english. Maybe you can use Google translator.
