This event only held by two kingdom in Java.
Sultanate of Yogyakarta and Kasunanan Surakarta.

DESCRIPTION:

Miyos Gangsa is a sign of the start of Sekaten event. The heritage music instrument, Kanjeng Kiai Gunturmadu and Kanjeng Kiai Nagawilaga gamelan were brought to the Gedhe Mosque Pagongan from the Sultan palace (Bangsal Ponconiti) and beaten for one week.

The procession begins with the presence  of the heritage music instrument, Kanjeng Kiai Gunturmadu and Kanjeng Kiai Nagawilaga gamelan in the Bangsal Ponconiti at 3:00 p.m. In the evening the daughters of Sultan spread the ‘udhik-udhik’. Udhik-udhik which contains rice, flowers and coins is spread in Bangsal Ponconiti. After the distribution of the udhik-udhik, the heritage music instrument, Kanjeng Kiai Gunturmadu and Kanjeng Kiai Nagawilaga gamelan will bring to Gedhe Mosque (Pagongan) accompanied by Sultan’s army.

WHERE IS IT?

LOCATION:
Bangsal Ponconiti, Kraton, Yogyakarta.

HOW TO GET TO THE LOCATION?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is a cheap public transport to get there. Trans Jogja Bus. Ticket only IDR 3,600. First, you must go to halte bus/bus stop/shelter of Trans Jogja. Then, you must reach to Beteng Vredeburg or Kantor Pos Besar halte (halte Kantor Pos Besar), and then take a walk to ALUN-ALUN UTARA. Ask to the operator if you still confused.
Operator will glad to give information. :-)

From Adi Sutjipto Airport :
please take Route 1A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg Shelter
Then, take a walk to Bangsal Ponconiti, Kraton.
From Tugu Railway Station :
please take Route 1A or 2A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg Shelter
Then, take a walk to Bangsal Ponconiti, Kraton.
Or you can just walk to the south from the Tugu railway station
From Giwangan Bus Station :
please take Route 3B – Stop in Pojok Beteng Wetan Shelter,
then please take Route 2B – Stop in Kantor Pos Besar Shelter
then, take a walk to Bangsal Ponconiti, Kraton.
From Jombor Bus Station :
please take Route 2A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg Shelter
Then, take a walk to Bangsal Ponconiti, Kraton.

*) Trans Jogja operates from 5:30 AM until 9:30 PM

**) If your stay far away from Trans Jogja bus stop, you can hire taxi motor online like Go-Jek or Grab. But, you have to install the apps first. The driver can not speak english and you may call him as crazy driver because you don’t get used with our ‘crazy’ traffic.

**) Some Yogyakarta/Javanese people believed that if they took rice, flower & coins from Udhik-udhik distribution, they will got blessing or peaceful feeling.
