DESCRIPTION:

The Panji story from Java and the story of Raden Inu Kertapati and Dewi Sekartaji arose at the end of the 13th century and is a local genius in the field of Javanese literature. The storyline of Panji is the love and adventure story of Inu Kertapati and Dewi Sekartaji, with various disguises and fights and wars. The story of Panji with being immediately popular, very popular with the community and spread throughout the archipelago. In the 19th century, Panji’s story crossed the oceans to Malaysia and Southeast Asia and became one of the most popular literature in Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam. and Malaysia. Panji’s name adjusts, in Thailand becomes Inao and in Malaysia begins with Hikayat Pita Panji inspires performing arts such as dance, stage, wayang (Wayang Beber, Wayang Kelir, Wayang Krucil), and various masks. Panji story is also made in the temples in the form of carved reliefs. The centuries-old influence of Panji is described by Historian Adrian Vickers as “A Literature and Culture [unique] in Southeast Asia”. In 2017, UNESCO accepted the Panji Story texts as World Heritage and recorded them in UNESCO’s Memory of The Word (MoW).

HOW TO GET TO THE LOCATION?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is a cheap public transport to get there. Trans Jogja Bus. Ticket only IDR 4,000. First, you must go to halte bus/bus stop/shelter of Trans Jogja. Then, you must reach to Beteng Vredeburg or Kantor Pos Besar halte (halte Kantor Pos Besar), and then take a walk to Pagelaran Kraton or Sonobudoyo museum. Ask to the operator if you still confused.
Operator will glad to give information. :-)

From Adi Sutjipto Airport :
please take Route 1A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg Shelter
Then, take a walk to Pagelaran Kraton or Sonobudoyo museum
From Tugu Railway Station :
please take Route 1A or 2A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg Shelter
Then, take a walk to Pagelaran Kraton or Sonobudoyo museum
Or you can just walk to the south from the Tugu railway station
From Giwangan Bus Station :
please take Route 3B – Stop in Pojok Beteng Wetan Shelter,
then please take Route 2B – Stop in Kantor Pos Besar Shelter
then, take a walk to Pagelaran Kraton or Sonobudoyo museum
From Jombor Bus Station :
please take Route 2A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg Shelter
Then, take a walk to Pagelaran Kraton or Sonobudoyo museum

*) Trans Jogja operates from 5:30 AM until 9:30 PM

**) If your stay far away from Trans Jogja bus stop, you can order taxi motor online like Go-Jek or Grab. But, you have to install the apps first. The driver can not speak english and you may call him as crazy driver because you don’t get used with our ‘crazy’ traffic.
