WHAT IS FESTIVAL PURBAKALA?

DESCRIPTION:

Festival Purbakala is a festival to commemorate the 106th Heritage Day. this festival contains exhibitions, discussions and art & cultural shows. This event was organized in collaboration with the DIY Culture Service, DIY Tourism Office, Yogyakarta City Cultural Service, Ministry of Education and Culture, Directorate General of Culture, and DIY Cultural Heritage Preservation Hall.

Theme this year is “Reading the Past, Doing the Present, Arranging the Future”. This event is an effort to remind all and to generate confidence for the next generation, that this country is actually built with a cultural system that covers various fields of life. In addition, it should be appropriate as part of the values of this nation’s civilization in the past to be actualized in order to provide confidence to the younger generation that the ancestors of this nation were great humans and had a civilization that had advanced in its time.

HOW TO GET TO LOCATION?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is a cheap public transport to get there. Trans Jogja Bus. Ticket only IDR 3,600. First, you must go to halte bus/bus stop/shelter of Trans Jogja. Then, you must reach to Beteng Vredeburg or Kantor Pos Besar halte (halte Kantor Pos Besar), and then take a walk to Sonobudoyo Museum. Ask to the operator if you still confused.
Operator will glad to give information. :-)

From Adi Sutjipto Airport :
please take Route 1A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg Shelter
Then, take a walk to Sonobudoyo Museum
From Tugu Railway Station :
please take Route 1A or 2A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg Shelter
Then, take a walk to Sonobudoyo Museum
Or you can just walk to Sonobudoyo Museum
From Giwangan Bus Station :
please take Route 3B – Stop in Pojok Beteng Wetan Shelter,
then please take Route 2B – Stop in Kantor Pos Besar Shelter
then, take a walk to Sonobudoyo Museum
From Jombor Bus Station :
please take Route 2A – Stop in Beteng Vredeburg Shelter
Then, take a walk to Sonobudoyo Museum

*) Trans Jogja operates from 5:30 AM until 9:30 PM

**) If your stay far away from Trans Jogja bus stop, you can order taxi motor online like Go-Jek or Grab. But, you have to install the apps first. The driver can not speak english and you may call him as crazy driver because you don’t get used with our ‘crazy’ traffic.

There are some nice cafe near the site.

*) The recommended cafe & restaurant nearby: Bale Raos Kraton, Pendopo Ndalem restaurant, Gadri resto. The price quiet expensive for backpacker. But, they offering the menus which is favorite of Sultan’s meals.
