2.00 P.M – 4.00 P.M – Buddhist pilgrim mass walking bring Holy water & Eternal flame to Pawon temple & Borobudur temple.

BOROBUDUR TEMPLE (18th May 2019):
4.30 P.M – 5.00 P.M – Arrive on Borobudur temple.
5.00 P.M – 6.30 P.M – Pilgrims take a rest, Praying and Dinner
6.30 P.M – 7.00 P.M – Preparation to Zone 1 Borobudur
7.00 P.M – 7.15 P.M – Religion Minister arrive on Manohara
7.15 P.M – 7.30 P.M – Religion Minister arrive on ceremony location
7.30 P.M – 7.35 P.M – Singing Indonesia Raya and Hymne Walubi by Harmonic Dharma choir
7.35 P.M – 7.40 P.M – Welcoming dance
7.40 P.M – 7.50 P.M – Buddhist mass praying leaded by Bhiksu Tadisa Paramita Mahastavira

1.30 A.M – 3.00 A.M – Praying by every Buddhism
3.00 A.M – 3.30 A.M – Vesak reflection by Bhiksu Tadisa Paramita Mahasthavira
3.30 A.M – 4.00 A.M – Guidance before Vesak meditation by Bhikku Wongsin Labhiko Mahathera
4.00 A.M – Vesak Meditation before Vesak Moment
4.11 A.M – Vesak moment marked by Gong sound three times and Blessing pilgrims with holy water.
4.25 A.M – Buddhist finish the meditation marked by Gong sound one times.
4.25 A.M – 4.30 A.M – Closing with Namaskara Gatha
4.30 A.M – 5.30 A.M – Pradaksina ritual or walking around the Borobudur temple for three times and put Lotus on the temple.
5.30 A.M – Finish the ceremony

WHERE IS IT?

LOCATION:
Mendut temple & The park of Borobudur Temple.

Village (Desa): Borobudur
Sub-district (Kecamatan): Borobudur
Regency (Kabupaten): Magelang
Province (Provinsi): Central Java (Jawa Tengah)

DISTANCE:
About 41 km or 40 minutes to north from downtown Yogyakarta.

HOW TO GET TO THE BOROBUDUR TEMPLE?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is a cheap public transport to get there. Trans Jogja Bus. Ticket only IDR 4,000. First, you must go to halte bus/bus stop of Trans Jogja. Then, you must reach to Jombor Bus Station halte/shelter (halte Jombor), and then change bus to Borobudur and pay about IDR 30,000. From Borobudur bus station you can take a walk to the temple.  Ask to the operator if you still confused. Operator will glad to give information. :-)

From Adi Sutjipto Airport :
please take Route 3A – Stop in Condongcatur Shelter,
then please take Route 2A – Stop in Jombor Bus Station,
then please take a small bus to Borobudur – Stop in Borobudur bus station
From Tugu Railway Station :
please take Route 3A (at Malioboro Shelter) – Stop in Ngabean Shelter,
then please take Route 2B – Stop in Jombor Bus Station
then please take a small bus to Borobudur – Stop in Borobudur bus station
From Giwangan Bus Station :
please take Route 3B – Stop in Ngabean Shelter,
then please take Route 2B – Stop in Jombor Bus Station
then please take a small bus to Borobudur – Stop in Borobudur bus station
From Jombor Bus Station :
please take a small bus direct to Borobudur

*) Trans Jogja operates from 5:30 am until 9:30 pm.

**) There is no bus direct to Borobudur after 6.00 pm. You can rent a scooter or a car or maybe join the tours.

*) The lanterns are released into the night sky that symbolizes enlightenment for the entire universe.

**) Don’t forget to make a wish before you release it. Even you don’t believe it, nothing to loose. Who knows your wish comes true.

HOW MUCH IS THE ENTRANCE FEE?

ENTRY FEE:
IDR 100K per two pax (include one flying lantern).

*) This ticket apply for two person to enter Borobudur temple on Vesak event.

**) You can buy it on Mendut temple on 9 AM on 18th May 2019.

***) I just checked it by ask to Vesak event management, you can start buy a flying lantern (Lampion) on May 17th, 2019 in Mendut temple on Lampion booth.

****) Don’t forget to bring your passport to register you as a participant.

*****) Be careful, sometime there will be a broker/pander who offering the ticket about IDR 150K per pax. Make sure you buy in the correct place.

*) This is grand buddhist festival celebrates the birth, death and the enlightenment of Siddhartha Gautama as Buddha Shakyamuni. Those events called three holy Vesak or Buddhist day.

**) It always crowded and traffic jam around Borobudur every year. Better if you come earlier.

***) Don’t wear short. Please, wear polite dress because it’s holy ceremony and you need to respect it by your dress and attitudes.

****) Don’t walking in front of buddhist when they are praying. Better you stand far away and use tele camera to capture the moment.

*****) Please, turn off your smartphone along Vesak meditation and Vesak moment.

    Hi, can you confirm that you have to buy the ticket a day ahead of the festival? I first read your 2018th version mentioning buying the ticket at the same day. However here I read that you have to buy it a day in advance.

    Thank you for the nice overview! It will be super helpfull and I’m already looking forward to it.

      I just visited Mendut temple.
      You can start buy a Lampion (Flying Lantern) ticket on May 17th in Mendut temple.
