WHAT IS THE STORY?
BANK NATIONAL INDONESIA (BNI) BUILDING HISTORY:
Yogyakarta BNI office building was established on 1922 and used as Insurance office building of Netherlandsch-Indisch Levensverzekering en Lijfrente Maattschappij or Nill Maattschappij for short. This Art Deco Indies building designed by famous Dutch Architects F.J.L. Ghijsels. In another note, the construction of this building was recorded in another year in 1923 under the design of a Javanese-born architect, R. Sindutomo.
Besides Nillmij, the company Nederlandsch Handel Maatschappij, Escompto Maatscahppij and the broker Buyn & Co also took part in the office building in the building. At that time the enactment of the Liberal Law in 1870, private companies began pioneering branches in Yogyakarta.
During the Japanese occupation it was used as the Japan Radio office ‘Hoso Kyoku’ under Dai Nippon soldier. In addition the Nippon army also used this building as the center of the Japanese occupation.
Furthermore, this building was used as the office of the Radio of the Mataramse Vereniging Voor Radio Omroep (MAVRO) and changed into Radio Republic of Indonesia (RRI) in September 11th, 1945.
During the revolutionary period on November 25th-27th, 1945 this building had been attacked by Dutch British air ships RAF. On July 5th, 1946 Margono Djojohadikusumo renovate this building and officially opened on August 17th, 1946 by Indonesia government and named it as BNI 46. Today, BNI 46 name changed to BNI.

HOW TO GET TO BNI DUTCH BUILDING?
There is a cheap public transport to get there. Trans Jogja Bus. Ticket only IDR 4,000. First, you must go to halte bus/bus stop/shelter of Trans Jogja. Then, you must reach to Beteng Vredeburg (SO 1 Maret halte) or Main Post Office halte (halte Kantor Pos Besar), and then take a walk to the bank. Ask to the operator if you still confused.
