So if you’re coffee lover and wondering where to go, here’s our take on the best that Yogyakarta has to offer.

1. JOSS COFFEE (KoPi JOSS) AT ANGKRINGAN LEK MAN TUGU

Almost everyone in Jogja knows about Kopi Joss because this cafe established in 1960’s. It’s a legendary coffee shop (cafe) in Yogyakarta.

Unlike most coffee shop (cafe) that offer the regular coffee, the legendary cafe offering unique coffee experience. A coffee served with hot burned charcoal plunged in it.

You have to say “Wow” and try this coffee because it is very famous and crowded cafe for ‘uncommon coffee’ in the evening. But, you still can enjoy it and atmosphere here, by sitting on the chair or on the mat.

2. BLANDONGAN COFFEE SHOP (warung kopi Blandongan)

This coffee shop goes into legendary coffee shop (cafe) because it’s a pioneer cafe for student. Established in 2000, so many young people and student visit this cafe and become popular in his time.

Unlike modern cafe, this cafe offering simple menu such as black coffee or coffee latte with cheap price. Don’t surprise if you won’t found many processing coffee like vietnam drip or french press or etc. They just simple put coffee powder and sugar  into a cup and put hot-boiled water.

In the past time this is the favorite place for student and young people for hangout. Sometime they have a contest for painting cigarettes using a coffee as ink.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is a cheap public transport to get there. Trans Jogja Bus. Ticket only IDR 4,000. First, you must go to
halte bus/bus stop of Trans Jogja. Then, you must reach to Ambarrukmo plaza, and then take a walk to cafe. Ask to the operator if you still confused.

3. CLINIQUE COFFEE SHOP (KLINIK KOPI)

In the first impression, this cafe is very unique in architecture and really nice with bamboo as material. You can lay your back and relax while taking a coffee.

For Yogyakarta people this cafe so idealistic because they not provide sugar and milk. “A coffee should enjoy with no other additive such as sugar or milk, just a pure coffee” said the (roaster+barista+cupper) or coffee hunter exactly he want to be called.

You can talk to him about the story behind every coffee in Indonesia because he talk to the farmer himself. He knows characters every coffee and he is so friendly person. No doubt that you have to visit this cafe clinic.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is a cheap public transport to get there. First, Trans Jogja Bus. Ticket only IDR 4,000. You must go to halte bus/bus stop of Trans Jogja. Then, you must reach to Kentungan shelter/bus stop or Jalan Kaliurang, and then change to a small bus to Kaliurang. Then you ask to “kernet” (The man whom you will pay the bus ticket) that you will stop on Gardu PLN. Then, take a walk to the cafe.
Ask to the operator if you still confused. Operator will glad to give information.

4. “PAWON LUWAK COFFEE” CAFE, BOROBUDUR

A cafe close to the Borobudur and Mendut temple. Luwak coffee is different than others coffee, the coffee beans taken from wild luwak feces.This wild civet only choose the best quality of coffee cherry.

‘Pawon luwak coffee’ cafe offering very cheap luwak coffee. This is the cheapest luwak coffee in Java. You can enjoy it while enjoy the atmosphere of Pawon temple.

5. EVA COFFEE HOUSE, BEDONO, AMBARAWA

When you have a trip from Yogyakarta to Semarang city or Karimun Java, you will pass this coffee shop. A legendary coffee shop established in 1954 by Mbah Tjipto. At the beginning coffee shop, it just simple cafe with size 5×9 meter. Today, it transform to modern cafe and available for 700 persons.

The coffee beans taken from their own coffee plantation around the cafe. Only selected red beans can be processed to be good coffee by special machine from Netherland. The taste of coffee Eva has consistency from the beginning business until today.

There is a cheap public transport to get there. Trans Jogja Bus. Ticket only IDR 4,000. First, you must go to halte bus/bus stop of Trans Jogja. Then, you must reach to Jombor Bus Station halte/shelter (halte Jombor), and then change bus to Semarang and pay about IDR x0,000. Then you ask to “kernet” (The man whom you will pay the bus ticket) that you will stop on Eva Coffee House.  Ask to the operator if you still confused. Operator will glad to give information.
