UNIQUE CUISINE & RESTAURANT
This cuisine are made from smoked Catfish (Lele asap) + Coconut milk (Santan).
So many Restaurant offering Mangut Lele, but only in here we served by seller in the kitchen.
Unlike other restaurant, the kitchen very old school, using fire wood and dry leaves.
You can see the black smog embed full in the wall.

There are many others menu if you don’t like spicy one. Such as Opor ayam, Gudeg, Ceker, Garang asem etc

DESCRIPTION:

Mangut Lele is a  typical menu of the region “Mataraman” (Yogya-Solo) and Semarang-Kendal. As the name implies, the main composition is fried catfish, flavored mangut (Coconut milk + turmeric + spices). 

An authentic Mangut Lele “Mbah Marto” Restaurant  Initially sold in Beringharjo market Yogyakarta. However, over time a lot of customers who buy directly in her trip from house to the market. Often, the cuisine sold out before being sell in the market. Therefore, Mbah Marto decided to no longer sell on the market. She decided to sell “mangut lele” at home or in the kitchen exactly.

*) It’s not easy to find the place cause it is hidden among village houses. Better you ask the local citizen if you lost. But, you have take off your helmet and turn off the engine. This is the local manner. Otherwise, it’s not polite.

HOW TO GET TO THE RESTAURANT?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
You can use Trans Jogja to Giwangan bus station (Terminal bis Giwangan), ticket about IDR4000. Then change bus, from Giwangan bus station to Parangtritis. Then, you have to stop at Kampus ISI, then take a walk to the restaurant. Ask bus operator if you confused.

From Adi Sutjipto Airport :
please take Route 3B – Stop in Giwangan Bus station (Terminal Bis Giwangan)
please take small bus to Parangtritis beach – Stop at Kampus ISI
Then, please take a walk to the restaurant, 100 m to the west
From Tugu Railway Station :
please take Route 2A – Stop in Tungkak shelter/halte.
Then, take Route 4A – Stop in Giwangan Bus station (Terminal Bis Giwangan)
please take small bus to Parangtritis beach – Stop at Kampus ISI
Then, please take a walk to the restaurant, 100 m to the west
From Jombor Bus Station :
please take Route 2A – Stop in Tungkak shelter/halte.
Then, take Route 4A – Stop in Giwangan Bus station (Terminal Bis Giwangan)
please take small bus to Parangtritis beach – Stop at Kampus ISI
Then, please take a walk to the restaurant, 100 m to the west

*) This restaurant popular with spicy foods. If you don’t like spicy cuisine better you ask which one is not spicy.

**) Translation words:
Spicy = Pedas
Not = Tidak

Not spicy = Tidak pedas.

WATCH THE “MBAH MARTO” RESTAURANT ON VIDEO:

*) For foreigner i recommend: Don’t drink with ice cube in any restaurant or street food in Indonesia, because indonesian ice cube made from not boiled water. It contain bacteria (E. Coli) that can makes stomach problem or diarrhea. Indonesian intestine become immune (adapted) to this bacteria, but not for expat (american and european especially).
