DESCRIPTION:

Nasi pecel is a Javanese rice dish served with pecel (cooked vegetables and peanut sauce). The vegetables are usually kangkung or water spinach, long beans, cassava leaves, papaya leaves, and in East Java often used kembang turi. It tastes best when eaten with fried tempeh and traditional cracker called peyek. It is popular in East and Central Java.

HISTORY:
An authentic Nasi Pecel Imogiri “Bu Wied” Restaurant start in 1980. She continuing family business. The concept of her restaurant is self service (prasmanan), the customer can take what vegetables/salad they like. So, it’s not wasting vegetables if they don’t like it. She also keep the quality of the food. Even the price of onions or brown sugar rise up, she still keep the portion of it for making peanut sauce.

HOW TO GET TO THE RESTAURANT?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
You can use Trans Jogja to Giwangan bus station (Terminal bis Giwangan), ticket about IDR4000. Then change bus, from Giwangan bus station to Imogiri.  You stop on Imogiri bus station. Then, take a walk to the cemetery. Better you rent a car or motorcycle for cheap one. Invite local person as guide (Couchsurfer) for good reason.

From Adi Sutjipto Airport :
please take Route 3B – Stop in Giwangan Bus station (Terminal Bis Giwangan)
please take a bus to Imogiri  – Stop at Imogiri bus station.
Then, take a walk to the Restaurant
From Tugu Railway Station :
please take Route 2A – Stop in Tungkak shelter/halte.
Then, take Route 4A – Stop in Giwangan Bus station (Terminal Bis Giwangan)
please take a bus to Imogiri  – Stop at Imogiri bus station.
Then, take a walk to the Restaurant
From Jombor Bus Station :
please take Route 2A – Stop in Tungkak shelter/halte.
Then, take Route 4A – Stop in Giwangan Bus station (Terminal Bis Giwangan)
please take a bus to Imogiri  – Stop at Imogiri bus station.
Then, take a walk to the Restaurant
From Giwangan Bus Station :
please take a bus to Imogiri  – Stop at Imogiri bus station.
Then, take a walk to the Restaurant

*) Better separate the peanut sauce if you don’t like spicy.

**) Actually this place is far away. If you want to try Nasi pecel that close to your place (downtown), you can go to Beringharjo market. There are a lot of seller in front of the market.

***) For foreigner i recommend: Don’t drink with ice cube in any restaurant or street food in Indonesia, because indonesian ice cube made from not boiled water. It contain bacteria (E. Coli) that can makes stomach problem or diarrhea. Indonesian intestine become immune (adapted) to this bacteria, but not for expat (american and european especially).
