WHY BACKPACKER SHOULD VISIT THIS CAVE?

HORIZONTAL CAVE
You should trying tracing to the cave. This “blind” tracing is very long horizontal cave, about 1.2 km length, but for visitor permitted only 500 meter to tracing the cave. Trying tracing at Cerme cave can lift up your adrenaline and be best experience in whole your life.

BEAUTIFUL ORNAMENT
You can see the most beautiful ornament inside the cave.
Such as, Stalactite, Stalagmite, Shawl, Flowstone , Coloumn etc.

EXOTIC PLACE
You visiting exotic place with nice view. Quiet and peaceful.
You also can hear the sound of the flow water, grasshoper and the sound of echo.
During the night, you can see the lights of Yogyakarta city.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
If you like outdoor exercise, you might love this place.
You need flashlight, helmet to do caving.
You can also to do climbing at the cliff of the cave.

DESCRIPTION:

Cerme Cave lies in Srunggo village, Selopamioro, Imogiri regarding 22 km southeast of Jogja. The cave extends 1.2 km and also its floor is covered by an underground water current, averaging a deepness of regarding 1-1.2 m. HOW TO GET TO THE CAVE:

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
You can use Trans Jogja to Giwangan bus station (Terminal bis Giwangan), ticket about IDR4000. Then change bus, from Giwangan bus station to Imogiri.  You stop on Imogiri market. Then, take a small bus to Siluk and stop at Kali Oya bridge, then change taxi motor to the cave. Better you rent a car or motorcycle for cheap one. Invite local person as guide (Couchsurfer) for good reason.

From Adi Sutjipto Airport :
please take Route 3B – Stop in Giwangan Bus station (Terminal Bis Giwangan)
please take a bus to Imogiri  – Stop at Imogiri market
Then, take a small bus to Siluk – Stop at Kali Oya (Oyo) bridge
Then, take a taxi motor – Stop at Cerme cave
From Tugu Railway Station :
please take Route 2A – Stop in Tungkak shelter/halte.
Then, take Route 4A – Stop in Giwangan Bus station (Terminal Bis Giwangan)
please take a bus to Imogiri  – Stop at Imogiri market
Then, take a small bus to Siluk – Stop at Kali Oya (Oyo) bridge
Then, take a taxi motor – Stop at Cerme cave
From Jombor Bus Station :
please take Route 2A – Stop in Tungkak shelter/halte.
Then, take Route 4A – Stop in Giwangan Bus station (Terminal Bis Giwangan)
please take a bus to Imogiri  – Stop at Imogiri market
Then, take a small bus to Siluk – Stop at Kali Oya (Oyo) bridge
Then, take a taxi motor – Stop at Cerme cave
From Giwangan Bus Station :
please take a bus to Imogiri  – Stop at Imogiri market.
Then, take a small bus to Siluk – Stop at Kali Oya (Oyo) bridge.

*) Trans Jogja operates from 5:30 am until 9:30 pm.

HOW MUCH IT COST?

ENTRY TICKET:
IDR15,000 per person. (include insurance)
IDR30,000 for local guide.

*) My visit on 28th May 2016 i found the entrance ticket has changed to IDR17,000 per person. Here the details:
IDR4,000 for Bantul government retribution.
IDR3,000 for Gunung Kidul government retribution.
IDR5,000 for Helmet rental (mandatory)
IDR5,000 for Flashlight rental (mandatory)

IDR50,000 for local Guide

*) You really need local guide as mandatory because so many ways/tunnels inside of the cave, you might lost without local guide.

**) You can share the cost of the guide for max 14 persons.

OPEN HOURS:
24 hours

DRESS:
shorts and a T-shirt or even change into swimming apparel.

*) Better you bring extra clothes.

TOOLS:
Trekking sandals or beach shoes, helmet, flashlight, waterproof pocket for camera/cell phone.

MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL:
There are weak signal for your cell phone.

CAFE/RESTAURANT:
There are some simple cafe.

*) For foreigner i recommend: Don’t drink with ice cube in any restaurant or street food in Indonesia, because indonesian ice cube made from not boiled water. It contain bacteria (E. Coli) that can makes stomach problem or diarrhea. Indonesian intestine become immune (adapted) to this bacteria, but not for foreigner (american and european especially).

RESTROOM/TOILET:
Some restroom and toilet. Better bring your own tissue.

*) If you like quiet sensation, better you do not visit on weekend.

Climbing on Cerme:

*) If you love Climbing, you can climb at the cliff of the cave. But, you have to bring your own tools.

*) I think you should wear your helmet when caving cause so many long stalactite.

**) I still amaze of this cave. How come it has water since the location at the top of the hill? Who is pumping the water? 🙂
